Disclaimer: I am a tattoo collector, not a tattoo artist. These tattoos are all done by various artists.
Okay, here on my tattoo page I post pictures of what I consider to be good examples of skin art, especially Celtics, since they are my favourites, and well, the page is called "Celtic Tattoos." Each picture will be labeled with the name of the artist and their location, if known, so just move your arrow over 'em to see :)
I am NOT a tattoo artist, I am a tattoo collector. I have no idea how to tattoo and I can barely draw a stick figure! If you are looking for an artist, please see my links page.
If you are looking for a specific design for your own tattoo, I suggest finding a reputable local artist and telling her or him what you have in mind. Most artists would be thrilled to design an original piece, and you will most likely end up with a piece of art better than the one you originally saw, just because you helped to design it!
Yes, I have my own skin art. I have 2 Celtic pieces, one on each upper arm. Society still tends to stereotype people with tattoos as troublemakers,or oddballs, especially women with ink. And that is the reason I got my skin art on my upper arms. I can cover my ink when I feel it is necessary, show them off when I want to.
My personal opinion is that society needs to wake up and put these outdated ideas behind them. Until then, I personally, will follow the advice of rocker Brian Setzer...
"Never get a tattoo where a judge can see them."
So. Are tattoos for everyone? NO! Are they for you? I don't know. Can you live with waking up everyday and seeing the same thing on your body for the rest of your life? Skin art is FOREVER. It doesn't wash off, and it's darned expensive to remove, not to mention the fact that scars from removal may be worse than the ink in the first place.
For some more advice on choosing an artist, especially if you are looking into a Celtic tattoo, check out Pat Fish's web page. Pat specializes in Celtic skin art and has some spectacular tattoos exhibited on her page. Pat Fish is, in my opinion, the best Celtic artist in the world. Her peers seem to share that opinion. Hopefully someday I will be able to wear some of her work.
I am very lucky that she has given me permission to share some of her art on my page. I am slowly getting it done, have patience please.
I have decided that Pat's work needs to be showcased on its own, so I am giving her art a full page on my site. There are too many outstanding examples of her work to put them all on this page without slowing load time. Please take the time to have a look, you will be glad you did.
Thanks, Pat, for allowing me to use your art. Jim also did my second piece, which is the celtic horse design at the top of most of my pages. He did an excellent job with it, though I did have to promise never to make him do anything so tedious again! :) Just a note to those of you who have noticed that I have seriously been neglecting my pages...
Thanks, ZK
NEW INK! I finally got my 3rd tattoo done. It's on my ankle, and I love it! Sorry the pictures aren't the greatest but they will do for now :)
I just have to show off my favourite work of art. This is my beautiful daughter, Isabel. Needless to say, I am a VERY proud mommy...
UPDATED! to see more of her art.
Both of my older tattoos are Celtic designs. I worked my way from simple to a more complex design. I do not consider my first tat anywhere near being complete. The artist, Jim Capano at Skibo's Front Range Tattoo in Fort Collins, Colorado, has some really good ideas for it, unfortunately, they have to wait for me to save some cash to do it.
I am finally able to devote some more time to this page. We are settled into our new house and I think I am getting the hang of this Mommy thing!
Please continue to have patience with me, since changes will still be slow in coming, and keep checking back. Also, keep an eye on my web log, since I will be listing updates in there.
